Today we have had a packed day of D-day history and remembrance. We visited Arromanches, the location of the famous Mulberry Harbour, the man made construction that allowed the Allies to get vehicles to the beaches. The highlight was the 360 degree cinema which showed a film remembering the liberation of Normandy. We then visited the gun batteries and Longues-sur-mer which is the only remaining gun battery in Normandy.
We capped our visit with a wonderfully respectful ceremony at the British War Cemetery in Bayeux. Mrs Thornton and pupils carried out some readings and prayers, then Sam and Ebeneezer laid the school’s wreath. Pupils then displayed their excellent behaviour poignantly walking round the cemetery
